"Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky..." - Kahlil Gibran
Falling in love with being alive! That's how nature, and forests in particular, make me feel.
Deeply breathing in the fresh air, I'm immediately transported to another realm where time slows down, where it feels like I can connect with everything.
'Nature's Giant' was awarded Judges Choice in a monthly Art Competition with the Milan Art Institute in June 2021 and appeared in the Gully Arts Show 2023.

Artwork Statement
'Nature's Giant' was my first winning competition entry for the Milan Art Club's monthly challenge in June 2021 and was awarded Judge's Choice for the cash prize that month!
It sparked a new idea and I followed it up with another for the next month's challenge ('Back to Source' which also won!).
These two paintings were full of energy, fast-paced and very expressive. When I'm painting in this way, I truly get lost in the process, from start to finish.
The image for 'Nature's Giant' came from a photograph I took while visiting Russell Falls, Mt Field National Park in Tasmania (2016). I feel deeply connected to Source when I'm surrounded by nature, particularly forests and waterfalls. It's like an instant, lightening-fast connection to deep within my core.
